ONE HAND FOR THE WIDOW
On Friday, September 28th, and Saturday, September 29th, a team of 115 volunteers partnered with us to bless Mrs. Collins, a 73-year-old woman whose husband had passed away this summer in June (2012). Her husband, 1SG Collins, was a 21-year Army veteran who had served two tours in Vietnam. We were able to serve Mrs. Collins by doing much needed home improvements and repairs to her home. Projects included new siding, soffits, facia, gutters, doors, windows, kitchen flooring, carpeting, interior paint, exterior paint, outside lighting, decluttering, cleaning, landscaping and more. By partnering with House Of Heroes, we were also able to honor her husband's service to our country by presenting Mrs. Collins with a flag that had been flown over the Capital and with a shadow box containing her husband's military awards and achievements.
ONE HAND FOR THE ORPHANS
Volunteers joined us in sending out letters inviting friends and family to sponsor the project. Since labor and materials are donated for Both Hands projects, all funds raised go directly toward the adoption expenses. Here's a link to our SPONSORSHIP LETTER.
We are not all called to adopt,
but we can all play a part in serving the widow and the fatherless.
